GLASS INDUSTRY · OPTICAL PERFORMANCE

What Is Low-Iron / Extra-Clear Glass and When Is It Used?

As thickness increases, the green tint of standard float glass can become more noticeable. Low-iron glass is relevant where higher transparency and a more neutral appearance are required.

Why is low-iron glass clearer?

Lower iron content can increase visible-light transmission and reduce green tint, particularly at the glass edge.

Where is it useful?

Retail displays, premium interiors, museums, balustrades, selected façade details and solar applications may justify the optical benefit.

Is it needed for every project?

No. Additional cost, thickness, appearance expectations and end use should be considered together.

Can it be processed?

Tempering, lamination and other processing may be possible depending on the selected product and production line.

What belongs in the RFQ?

State thickness, dimensions, optical expectation, processing requirements and end use.
