How to Convert an Architectural Glass Schedule and BOQ into an RFQ

Drawings and a BOQ alone are not always enough for architectural glass procurement. They need to be normalized with production, packing and commercial delivery details.

What should a glass schedule contain?

Where possible, keep panel ID, build-up, thicknesses, coating, temper/lamination status, dimensions, quantities and special processing in one structured table.

Is a BOQ the same as a cut list?

Not always. A BOQ may show commercial totals, while a cut list provides panel-level dimensions and quantities for production. Using both creates a stronger RFQ.

What format should be sent to manufacturers?

Alongside drawings, provide a summary technical table, tolerances, performance requirements and delivery phases.

How should quotations be compared?

Different suppliers should quote against the same glass schedule revision, processing scope, packing basis and Incoterm.

Why does revision control matter?

A small project revision can change panel dimensions, quantities and production planning. The document revision should be frozen for RFQ and order stages.
