How to Prepare a Glass Processing RFQ: CNC, Edging, Drilling and Tolerances

For processed glass, a dimension list alone is often insufficient. Holes, notches, radii, edge type, tolerances and downstream tempering/lamination should be defined in one technical file.

When are drawings essential?

Beyond simple rectangular cutting, holes, notches, radii, custom geometry and CNC requirements should be supported by technical drawings.

How should edgework be specified?

Ground, polished, bevelled, flat or custom edge requirements should be explicit, especially where edges remain visible.

Why do tolerances matter?

For machinery, furniture, façade and installation parts, dimensional tolerance directly affects fit.

How should tempering sequence be planned?

Cutting, drilling, notching and most edge processing are completed before tempering, so the RFQ should reflect this sequence.

When should packing be specified?

For multi-piece orders, labelling and crating by floor, façade zone, installation sequence or part number should be discussed at quotation stage.
