How to Evaluate an International Supplier

A polished website and a competitive quotation do not prove that a supplier can deliver consistently. International supplier evaluation must combine documentary checks, operational evidence and a controlled commercial test.

1. Verify legal identity

Company registration, tax data, address, bank account and quotation must point to the same legal entity.

2. Prove technical and production capability

Request equipment lists, process flow, samples, test reports, quality systems and evidence of similar production.

3. Stress-test capacity claims

Ask about current load, shifts, bottlenecks, critical materials and peak-season lead times, not only theoretical monthly capacity.

4. Compare commercial terms through total risk

MOQ, payment, Incoterms, tooling, tolerances, delays and remake responsibility must be evaluated together.

5. Start with a measurable pilot order

Measure product quality, communication speed, document accuracy, packaging, delivery and problem-solving behaviour.
